Grumpy the Reindeer

Doris was not impressed, the day I took her to work wearing reindeer antlers. As I walked her to the shop people all stopped and laughed and adored her in the little Christmas outfit. But when we got into the shop and she gave me a deep, "I'm not happy snort" then got onto her chair and wouldn't look at me. After much apologising and promising NEVER to dress her up again, we binned the horns and I was forgiven.

Old Molly puss

Our old Molly Puss passed away last night 27th October 2012. He was a strong old man full of character. He was 20years old. He was Doris's cat brother and they had a special bond. Doris would kiss his head and play with him. They had a complete trust of each other. We'll miss you Molly.

The Sweet smell of Doris

Doris never had a "doggy" smell, she had a sweet Doris scent. It was comforting and safe. This picture reminds me of her smell, and kissing her on the top of her head.

Taking a dip

Doris loved the water, she loved the beach, a pool, the river and the hose. In this picture she was on holidays at Aunty Donna's who had taken her to her mother's farm at Nowra. Doris had a ball playing with the other dogs and taking a dip. Of course I had a few moments with Doris and water...like when she jumped into a swimming pool next to me and sunk like a stone. It was lucky I was there to haul her up to the surface. Then the time she grabbed the end of the hose and the water went straight into her lungs and she took 2 steps and collapsed. I just grabbed her face and blew down her nose and screamed at the same time. She coughed up the water and came to within a few breaths. She just shook it off and powered on, as Doris always did. I, on the other hand, went grey and lost 5 years off my life.

The last stand

This is the last photo of Doris taken a few days before she passed. She had not been well with her heart and she looked straight down the lens at her dad and said I'll be OK.

I just can't stop

It has been over 18months since Doris has passed and I haven't been able to post anything on her blog. I still miss her everyday, but I still love talking about her and looking at her pictures. At home and at her shop her presence is still very strong. Doris left a legacy and with this in mind I now continue her blog, digging up photos to put a smile on our faces and a tear in our eyes. Enjoy the continuation of the Daily Doris.

I'M A MINIATURE!

One morning while i was doing yoga practice, Doris wanted some attention. So she got up on my son's little chair and i had to laugh. She hung over both ends and i knew she was having a joke with me. She's a funny old thing!
